Hiiii, soooo, quick update: I moved from London and am now living in Mexico City!
Today I wanted to make this comeback newsletter (it has been a while since my last post) about something fun, nice, warm… after all we’re not taking anything seriously this Gemini season and Mercury is in its ruled sign which means just be yourself, let loose, have fun.
I didn’t want to make this one about me (completely) so I decided to write a list! I want to remember the places I’ve been to, lived in and loved. And to make it truly entertaining, of course I’m going to relate them to zodiac signs, just because. So keep up and tell me which city you relate to your star sign <3
Disclaimer: I love so many places I’ve been to, this is not a ranking or whatever just pure memories and yes, what I tried most was to link star signs and cities soooo not even my hometown is there and I do keep it in my heart.
Mexico City (Aries)
A very obvious choice, a chaotic city for a chaotic sign. Here and with this sign I have the most fun but also the most questions about the nature of their being. How can so much mayhem just exist and be sustained? my Virgo sun could never. Here I fell in love in a heartbeat. I have visited this city with each of my best friends and have had a very different experience every time. This city starts a fire in you and it never goes out.
Florence (Taurus)
Nothing more Venusian than an Italian experience. I remember I made a trip to Florence and Cinque Terre with my family, it felt like everything was fine, just walking around, taking a train to the Italian coast to lay in the sun, diving into Riomaggiore’s waters, it was magical. We ate like God intended anyone to experience a meal, roamed around art, got inspired by the architecture and it felt like a Beach House song, like a dream on Earth.
Barcelona (Gemini)
This is a city where you can do any fun activity that you can think of. As a girlie of course I think of shopping, the beach, watching skaters outside of a museum while drinking a coffee and walking through colorful alleys, parks and streets as FUN!! Any place you visit feels like a local experience where creativity is all around. Purely inspiring.
Ensenada (Cancer)
My most beloved city in the world. This is obviously a nostalgic pick, I basically grew up here. I try to go there every summer as a life-long tradition. This is where I feel at home, where my soul just rests and heals instantly, it feels like a June Cancer, like Lana del Rey. I relate it to Cancer mostly because of my grandfather (a July 2 king), chilly summers surrounded by my whole family (all 3 uncles + 10 cousins and my dad & brothers) chatting, eating, joking, coexisting and just being a crazy, loving, supportive family.
Los Angeles (Leo)
As I’ve said in a past zodiac sign newsletter, Leo is a sign that I would want to get more involved with because they are fun but I just keep them at a distance. LA is just like that. I don’t go very often and when I go there’s always something new or that I don’t quite grasp about the lifestyle. When I was young I used to visit a lot with my mom, it’s a 4 hour drive from my hometown so we would go to the Fashion District to shop and resell, purely business. I would also go to visit themed parks, concerts and museums but it was always a short visit. The last time I went I had a more local experience and it felt okay, like it can be fun and I think what makes it feel like fun for me it’s the hours driving, scanning the radio stations and just singing along through freeways… hahaha I really need to go back more.
Copenhagen (Virgo)
CPH is the most organized fun and beauty I’ve ever seen. It’s a clean, bikeable, walkable, liveable city; the size is just perfect, no need for it to be bigger, it wouldn’t be the vibe. When I went I wanted to feel like the indie movie Copenhagen, not like the big age gap illegal romance, but like visiting the cities most emblematic spots at any time of day. It was a very enlightening solo trip I just felt happy there, like the right place for my being. Note: I didn’t even have enough money to be there but I think that’s why I loved it, even though I could barely eat (!!!) I had a very nice time just like I could USE the city and that was enough for me.
Budapest (Libra)
I lived here for a while and I loved it. It was my first experience living by myself, studying abroad, having no big responsibilities and a large budget. I made the most of it and I’m so glad I chose this city. I knew nothing about it before going, even before picking it, I didn’t want to blind myself with expectations, I did little to no research which sounds kind of dangerous but what I mean by research is like reaaally diving into other people’s or the internet’s opinion on Budapest. I just knew it was beautiful and it is.
I really enjoy small touristic cities where you can just hang out in the same places but there’s always new people so you can be your most social self. Also, everything is walking distance and you have a variety of personalities that you can use in there: like sometimes I would be in my meditative era and would go to the woods and city hikes; other times, I would just want to go eating and looking for the best thai or viet food; I had different groups of friends and since I was studying Fashion Photography I would just be around taking pictures and portraits and this practice really made me just shine as my Libra rising.
London (Scorpio)
My other piece of home. I relate London to Scorpio because:
I never felt like I really knew it even though I visited 3 times already since I was 15 and lived there for 1 year and a half.
Of course it has this dark, mysterious feeling when it’s always raining and cloudy and GRAY.
I trust London as I trust Scorpios, I know it’s a safe place to be, slow and steady, reliable in its own way.
London is cool and knowledgeable, classic yet innovative, very lux, secretive and exclusive yet interesting place to be in. I love it as it is but my budget didn’t fit there… for now. I don’t really know if I’ll come back and have a long stay again. We’ll see.
Puerto Escondido (Sagittarius)
This place is a Sagi wonderland, for sure, no doubts. A very spiritual escapade kind of destination, not that lowkey but lowkey-er than Tulum, Puerto Escondido has adventure anywhere you look for it. It’s the perfect place to be your most philosophical self, there’s an awakening guaranteed when you step on this place. I don’t know if it’s the water, the people, the dirt, the sunsets, the food or what but trust me, if you go there I dare you to not say it’s a life-changing experience.
Toronto (Capricorn)
I keep my Toronto experience in my heart eventhough it was a tough one. Toronto is kind of dull and it takes time to get used to it, or at least that was for me. I lived there in Summer ‘17, Frank Ocean’s Blond just started being my soundtrack, I went to babysit my niece and got a summer job at a production company. Even though I was doing that I was in a place in my heart where I just felt lonely and bored, so I didn’t really enjoyed it. But looking back, I had very good experiences in this developing city, it’s very Canadian, very squared and organized and just full of nature, it has that duality that I find in Capricorns: the structured and the nature-connected being.
Berlin (Aquarius)
My Aquarian best friend reminds me of Berlin, Berlin reminds me of my Aquarian best friend. There’s a weird, fun and intellectual vibe in the Berlin air. It’s a very personal experience, very youthful, very reserved and you can discover and uncover layers to the city. I visited in a quick 3-day trip but left feeling like I wanted to stay longer, I feel that there’s something to learn about me by being there, unlock a next level, have a huge realisation, I don’t know, it just feels like anything is possible there.
Paris (Pisces)
I had to relate the dreamiest city to the dreamiest sign. I’ve been three times here and spent 10 days each time so I could say I basically lived there for a whole month now. Nah not really but I wiiiish!!! I love being a cliché, my indie, “too cool”, teenage self wouldn’t be proud that my favorite city in the world is Paris but I just adore it there. Any time I visit I feel like I belong there, I glow, I can’t stop smiling and crying from happiness, everything is so pretty around, I suddenly become delusional and don’t even mind the nasty odor, the rude people or its bad stuff. When I’m there I get to feel in a movie, picture it through the years, I feel like walking over poetry.
This is what my most beloved memories around the world feel like, every single place is different and mark me so much that I just become another person when I travel and come back, I feel like this cycle where I just create myself, I need the moving around to feel like I’m evolving. As I see with this list, I have so many more places to visit and even more continents, I’m dyiiiing to visit South America and East Asia for now I just lean on Anthony Bourdain’s shows to get inspired.
As a Gemini who lives in Barcelona, I love
