RANDOM RATINGS #23
BADBADNOTGOOD, Diles que no me maten, A Complete Unknown, sighswoon's recs
This is what i’ve been listening to and what I recently watched, this edition turned out very music related.
A Complete Unknown (2024) dir. James Mangold
There have been many Bob Dylans on the silver screen and for a long while my favorite portrayal of his was the Factory Girl one by Hayden Christensen, he was somehow sweeter and related to Edie Sedgwick and very very handsome but Timothée hereeee, I enjoyed him so much.
I like when biopics focus on a specific time or big moment in the life of someone and I think this movie showed a very personal yet historic period of Bob Dylan and American music. It was more musical than I expected, Elle Fanning was amazing in it, also getting to know a bit more about Joan Baez through this relationship was a nice touch.
Rating: 8.6/10.

Mort Garson - Signs of the Zodiac (1969)
A few weeks ago Gabi Abrão (@sighswoon) was saying in her instagram stories about how she found a sample in a song that took her to these albums created by Mort Garson in 1969. This guy made a very cultish famous album called Plantasia in which he composed songs for plants to listen to (I haven’t really gotten into it or have so much information about it, but yeah).
So… he made a complete collection of 12 albums, one for each of the zodiac signs in which every song has a spoken verse where he describes the traits of the zodiac signs. He divides the album in 8 tracks and makes the same structure for them:
I Know You (x)
(x) At Work
Planetary Motivations
Where Was Your Moon
Numbers, Gems and Colors
In Love, (x)?
The Four Seasons of (x)
Those Who Knew
Each song feels like a poem and, since they are very short, every song is charged with punctual information and very specific notes on each sign.
Find yours:
Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces
Rating: 10/10. It’s quite relaxing and informative to listen to this.

Diles que no me maten
I don’t have a specific album that I would like to show about this band it’s just that I recently watched them live and I don’t know.. it felt like that sweet feeling you get when you discover something out of the blue and you enjoy it so much and it’s more the greatness of the moment rather than the actual music. I think the show was carrying a very calm yet angry energy, more of a frustration that was making you feel like you were witnessing something super personal and your only job was just to observe and be present.
Rating: 10/10. Great experience, I would watch them live again and again and again.

BADBADNOTGOOD - Mid Spiral (2024)
Honestly I just listened to this album once.. or twice on the way to work and back home the same day. I really liked it. I love BBNG, they’re coming to Mexico City and I want to go to their concert and I will. I remember I saw them in London by myself in 2018, it was amaziiiing, I remember the crowd was so cool and the band really connected with the audience.
This album is more of their jazz combined with their hip hop and groovy influences and a bit of rock in it and they still do everything so different and cool. I’m sorry I don’t have many words for it, it’s just sooo good.
Rating: 9.6/10.
