RANDOM RATINGS #20
Perfect Days, Crossing, Fly Me to the Moon, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans
Hi, I have been watching only movies lately, can't really offer any recs on music, reality shows or books at the moment because either I don't put that much attention into them or I leave them before I finish them. Today I have a short and sweet selection, hope you enjoy :) Let me know if you have watched any of these or are wanting to. To read more Random Ratings click here.
Crossing (2024) dir. Levan Akin
What I loved most about this film was that it is set between Georgia and Turkey, two countries I don't have much knowledge about but I do have some nice memories in Istanbul which is pictured here just as I knew it.
The main character is an old solitary lady who's looking for her niece and with the help of a young boy they travel to Istanbul to find her. I am very fond of road movies and even though the trip in this movie is not that long it feels as if the places portrayed are characters in the movie as well, they play a big part in why they are there, how they get there and what it means to be there.
At the end I really enjoyed the feeling it left on me, it was a bittersweet feeling of longing, hope and loss in a very light and dry way of showing it, you feel for them but thats's life.
Rating: 9.7/10.

Fly Me to the Moon (2024) dir. Greg Berlanti
A fun, light, Sunday movie you could watch with anyone and just enjoy the event of going to the cinema. It had comedy, a bit of romance, a lot of history and an unnecessary explanation of untold events ,which is still interesting.
If you like the 60s, NASA, all about outer space and a bit of marketing strategies this is a fun watch.
Rating: 8.4/10

Perfect Days (2023) Dir. Wim Wenders
This is such a beautiful movie. Honestly the trailer captures a big part of the feeling this movie evokes and still watching it you want to stay there forever. You enter the everyday life of this man who has his life very much settled with no big desires yet he lives so beautifully. This film is all about the importance of being present and enjoying the everyday details. It filled me with hope and questions and I love that.
Rating: 10/10 i think it entered my favorite movies list.
Feud: Capote vs. The Swans (2024) created by Ryan Murphy
Ryan Murphy knows what real-life stories the girls and gays like. I am currently reading Music for Chameleons by Truman Capote and just in perfect timing I found this TV show about him and his “best friends” and “muses”. This show has New York’s elite, a writer hungry for gossip and good stories to tell and sell, great fashion moments, THE Naomi Watts and THE Chloë Sevigny portraying the most beautiful and glamorous women you can imagine and to add a little spice it also has lots of BETRAYAL. It’s everything you want from a 60s-70s biopic tv show.
Now I can read my book imagining his voice narrating the stories. :)
