I haven’t written since the last RR. This is an attempt to post at least something in this platform. I’ve been in Mexico City and Mexicali for the past month and have watched some stuff but not finished. These are the only two things I can truly rate right now.
The Worst Person in the World (2021) dir. Joachim Trier
I waited so long to watch this movie. I thought I’d watch it on cinemas back in London but weirdly it wasn’t shown (at least on the one theatre I usually go). I feel like I’ve seen a lot from this genre: twenty-something fucking up and not knowing how to decide yet always managing to have what she actually wanted, never satisfied with her love life and never sure of what she wants to do yet very brilliant and talented… and I don’t care, I love it (just like GIRLS).
Yup, on this kind of genre would be Frances Ha and any Greta Gerwig (as an actress) film, Uptown Girls, Fleabag, GIRLS, Broad City, anything I would always recommend with my best friend. I thought I’d grew tired of it, the same story in different (not so different) physiques but guess what? I totally adored this film, too. The pace, all the packed information about the characters, the plot twists, the love triangle, the feeling that she might do things wrong over and over again. It’s a must watch if you’re really into this kind of stories.
Rating: 9.5/10

Cinema Paradiso (1988) dir. Giuseppe Tornatore
A very well rated classic. This became my favorite movie when I first saw it back in uni. It’s about friendship, it’s about love, it’s about films and the magic of movies, about the powers that move us, about community and coming together through art, and most of all about nostalgia and the impact of the people close to you, of soulmates. I adooore this movie, I adore the ending. Hands down, the best ending ever I can just watch the ending and cry.
Actually, I saw it today and while I was crying I googled Cinema Paradiso and saw that the main actor, Jacques Perrin, has just passed away. I really feel he had an impact, at least on me, with his acting on that movie, on that finale. It moves me everytime.
Rating: 10/10 not even kidding.

Also, both of their soundtracks are magic. I’ll leave them here.
