brendawareness
To be honest, I’m a very recent brendahashtag fan. I knew about her because of some cute hype she has on fashion twitter but I never really followed her content, until I DID. The moment I entered her instagram channel (brendacast) I was very drawn to the memes she would send, the stories she would tell or the random thoughts she would just share; then luckily for me, she started her podcast on Youtube.
This podcast is the type of media that gives me hope around fashion content, it took me back to the days where I would be so interested in fashion brands and businesses and now being a PR for a fashion brand it just gives me the energy to use what Brenda is saying and applying it to my job knowing that I’m using tools to keep me on track with what I want and to keep the brand I work for on track with their values and personality. And all this knowledge comes just from a 30-40 min ramble about personal/professional topics around fashion. I love opinions.

High & Low: John Galliano (2023) dir. Kevin Macdonald
As a quick review, I really enjoyed this documentary, I mean John Galliano’s big personality, creativity and style is unmatchable. This movie really does portray every aspect of his career path, it did go deep into his work (insane) rythm and a lot of the fantasy he created for his own brand since CSM, for Givenchy, Dior and Maison Margiela.
However, I think it didn’t go really deep into his own perspective or thoughts on the anti-semitic phrases he said on three different occasions. Like there was a lot of aspects that, I get it and they were very relevant of course, like his addiction and dependance on alcohol, on work, his relationship with his family, the abuse from his parents, him always wanting to escape into fantasy, the work burn-out, his friend/work partner’s death, it was a lot. He just kept saying he didn’t know why he said what he said. In my opinion that would’ve make it a bit more worth it, to actually have a resolution and just maybe an apology.
I really recommend to watch it, it’s a good think piece.
I can send you the movie for free if you send me a “hello” & your e-mail address.

Rev(b)elada. Vivian Maier Fotógrafa (hasta mayo 19) en el Museo Franz Mayer, CDMX.
This was such a nice museum visit. I really love Vivian Maier since I saw the documentary about her. When I studied photography and was a bit more active around with my camera I used to identify a lot with her style, it was easy, lovely, a view from the height of my chest, every scene on the street, every portrait would always be from a low angle and about very interesting people, women and children, stylish men,…
I remember doing a street photography excercise copying her style and I got some of the most beautiful self-portraits ever in between hidden mirrors. I love what she did, I can’t believe she made over 100,000 shots in her lifetime. They were all pretty amazing. She will always be one of my self-portrait and street photography idols.
Rating: 10/10 must visit.
The Iron Claw (2023) dir. Sean Durkin
This memory will always make me laugh: I was looking for something easy to watch, superficial, no emotions just laughter and no thinking at all… So I asked my best friend if I should watch Kung Fu Panda 4 or The Iron Claw. She was like “you know what, if you like Jeremy Allen White, The Iron Claw is definitely what you want to watch, I mean you’ll have body-ody and a dose of testosterone." I was like yeah, that’s so true.
Little did I know that this would be the most gut-wrenching movie I’ve ever seen that captured the feeling I guess my grandma and my uncle must have felt when my dad and his siblings started dying one after another. Tragedy after tragedy, oh god. Don’t get me started on Jeremy’s body, I cannot believe what happens to his character. That day, I left the cinema just crying so hard at that ending. It was a good movie, tho.

Challengers (2024) dir. Luca Guadagnino
This movie!!! OMG. I watched it yesterday on a VIP cinema sharing a loveseat with an old woman I didn’t know, I really think she heard me gasp and gulp on every makeout scene. This is such a hot movie and it’s filled with the most natural drugs they exist: competitiveness, adrenaline, desire, sex, gossip, secrets, more adrenaline and stress.
It’s in essence a film about tennis and I loooove anything tennis. I love when a movie with all of its elements makes me feel what the makers intended me to feel: the music, the acting, the pace, the storytelling, the sections it had, everything was so captivating. I woke up today ready to do my long run with the soundtrack.
Rating: 10/10, obsessed.
