Arctic Monkeys and Taylor Swift dropped a new album in the same day, luckily it was a very long day for me and I took the time to listen to both of them. As soon as I played the first song—I started with Taylor Swift— I felt like this music was going to be my new soundtrack of the season. The Car by Arctic Monkeys felt like a kiss on the cheek that I’m going to be revisiting every now and then, forever.
I love both of them, for real. I made some first impressions videos on TikTok and you can also go back into my Random Ratings to see that I actually have special editions for both of these artists. (Here’s the Dr. Taylor Swift edition, and here is the Arctic Monkeys edition) Enjoy!
Midnights (3am Edition) (2022) Taylor Swift
I started with the first edition of course. Played it on a running errands morning, so there was great opportunity to feel like part of a movie while walking through the south of London, crossing bridges and strolling by the river.
I enjoyed pretty much the whole album. From Lavender Haze to You’re on Your Own, Kid I felt every emotion; tracks 6-8 felt kind of filler for me; then Bejeweled gave me that Taylor pop I genuinely appreciate and Labyrinth and Karma were the tracks that sold everything to me. So that was almost the whole album.
Until 3am edition came out… and I still have no clue if I enjoy it as well; I think that happens to me a lot with Taylor Swift, I love her original edition albums and when it comes to listen to an extended version, I don’t feel like the new songs are part of the album. But that’s just me, maybe I’ll find a new favorite song in there (Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve can be it).
Fav songs: Labyrinth, Maroon, Karma, Anti-hero, Snow on the Beach (yes, it’s just because Lana is featured even though it feels extremely disrespectful to give us crumbs.)

The Car (2022) Arctic Monkeys
I decided to have a better setting to listen to Arctic Monkeys, so I waited until I got back home and cleaned the kitchen. Then again, this morning I gave it another round, now reading the lyrics. I CAN’T STOP THE CHILLS. The jazzy, psychodelic, classic mix in their music takes me somewhere I can’t imagine, just feel.
It’s a whole trip. The strings start to drive you since the first song, then the funky guitar riffs and crying solos fly you through these moody scenes full of nostalgia. Nostalgia from the Arctic Monkeys’ own sound. I admire them more and more every time and I love the quality of everything they deliver, it’s not just the music, it’s the emotion, the drama, the storytelling, the pieces apart and put together.
Fav songs: Body Paint, Big Ideas, I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am, Jet Skis On The Moat, Hello You
